Wii Sports Resort – Games to play alone

I have written a lot about how much fun the Nintendo Wii is to play with the family, but it is also great fun to play by yourself.  I was finally able to get a chance to play the Nintendo Wii one night (started about 10 pm after every one had gone to sleep).  While I have been spending a lot of time playing Wii Sports resort with the kids (and getting my arse kicked), I thought I would see how good the games are to play by yourself.  Let me tell you -  if you haven’t played the games below on Wii Sports Resort – check them out when the family go to sleep tonight. (For the record I stopped playing at 2 a.m.).

Sword Fighting - Showdown

wii sports resort sword fightingHow good is this!  You are up against an army of thousands (maybe not quite that much) and you swing the Wii remote like a sword, killing everyone that is in your way.  At the end of each stage there is a boss in black you must defeat.  You will have a ball with this – pity there is no ninja throwing stars.

Frisbee Golf

wii sports resort frisbee golfGreat fun.  You play the golf courses using a frisbee.  I found it a little hard to master at the start but after a while it is fantastic.  You have three frisbees to chose from before each go, and then simply swing the Wii remote like you would if you were really throwing a Frisbee.

Archery

wii sports resort archeryI really love this game.  You start off closed to the target and at each step you move further and further back.  The outstanding feature is the way you use the Wii controls.  Hold the Wii remote in your left hand, hold it vertically out in front and then hold the nunchuk beside it like you would if you were using a real bow.  You then draw the nunchuk back towards you (I love the sound it makes when you are pulling the string).  Aim and release.  If you really want a challenge use the expert setting.

Bowling – Spin Control

(Hint:  watch out for light fittings above you head)

Air Sports – Island Flyover

wii sports resort island flyoverRemember when you were young and you would make a paper plane the throw it.  This is basically what you do.  Hold the Wii remote is your fingers and fly around the island.  You mission is to find points of interest and shoot some balloons.  There are some very tricky places to get to like flying in a long tunnel.
